Continuing Studies refines mission

Continuing Studies at UConn has received a makeover and a new name. Formerly the College of Continuing Studies, reporting to the Provost, the unit is now known as the Center for Continuing Studies and operates under the aegis of Vice Provost Veronica Makowsky.

Plans for new classroom building now underway
Planning for a single new classroom building to be completed in 2009 to replace Arjona and Monteith has begun in earnest. The new building will house the departments of Journalism, Modern and Classical Languages, Political Science, Economics, Linguistics, and Communications Sciences.  

Residence halls to be named in honor of early alumni
In honor of the University's 125th anniversary, a number of residence halls have been named in memory of early graduates. The South Campus residence halls, the buildings that comprise the Charter Oak Apartment Complex, and Hilltop and Charter Oak Suites will be renamed.

Lecture series to focus on American Experience
American history will come to life this fall at the Avery Point Campus, with a lecture series sponsored by the University's American Studies Program.
