Activities abound at Student Union this summer

Make your own ice-cream sundae, pick up a boxed lunch, enjoy live music, airbrush a hat, or have your fortune told. These activities and more await you at the Student Union this summer.

“We have a great line-up of activities, and we welcome students, faculty, staff, the community and visitors to stop by the Student Union to check out our events on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays,” says Megan Wildenstein, programs office graduate assistant in the Department of Student Activities.

“There is something for everyone.”

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays – Ice cream sundaes
6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/8: Make your own ice cream sundaes with UConn Dairy Bar ice cream. $2 students, $3 others.

Wednesdays – Free performances
6/21    singer/guitarist Frank Critelli
6/28    singer/guitarist Michael Penfield
7/12    singer/guitarist Vanessa Kafka
7/19    singer/guitarist Michael Horn
7/26    A cappella group Rubyfruit
8/2   singer/guitarist Mike Lasala
8/9   Jim Walker’s Eastshore Steel Drum Band

All performances take place from noon to 1 p.m.

Wednesdays – Boxed lunches
BBQ boxed lunches are available for purchase from the Union Street Concessions for $6. See the Summer Programs website for the featured lunch of the week.

Thursdays – Free activities
6/22     Airbrush pillowcases
6/29     Famous Faces
7/13     Caricature artists
7/20     Photo mugs
7/27     Birthday chronicles
8/3       Airbrush trucker hats
8/10     Photo puzzles

All programs will be held on the Student Union’s North Patio, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In case of rain, Wednesday and Thursday events will take place in the Student Union lobby.

Events on Tuesday will be canceled if raining.

Summer events run through Aug. 11.
