UConn Advance - November 14, 2005 - Community encouraged to use online calendar

The web-based University Events Calendar is available online to all members of the UConn community who wish to advertise an event, or to find out what is happening at any UConn campus on a particular date.

The Advance continues to publish a weekly calendar in each issue, downloading items from the online calendar.

To submit an item to the electronic Events Calendar, users fill out an online form and submit it directly into a dozen or more topical calendars that cover areas such as arts and entertainment, athletic events, health, lectures, and conferences.

Events included in the University Events Calendar must be held at a UConn location and/or be a UConn-sponsored activity.

Events may be entered up to three years in advance. Organizers are advised to check whether other events are already scheduled on the day they plan their event, in order to avoid potential conflicts.

Users – on or off-campus – can subscribe to specific calendars of interest, and automatically receive e-mail notification when an event is added to that calendar.

Users may search the calendar by day, week, or month, as well as by a specific campus or topic. The default is set at All Events and All Locations. Clicking on a particular event title reveals a description of that event.
