Mathematician honored for research excellence

Evarist Giné-Masdeu, a professor of mathematics, was recently named the recipient of the 2008 Provost’s Research Excellence Award.

The award recognizes excellence in research at the Storrs and regional campuses.

It is open to tenured faculty in any discipline who hold the title of University professor, professor, or associate professor.

Up to four awards are made annually. Each is accompanied by a stipend of $2,500 to be used at the award winner’s discretion in support of his or her program of research.

Giné-Masdeu will be honored during the graduate commencement ceremony on May 10.
