Donations of new or gently used toys and school supplies are needed this holiday season to benefit children ages five through 12 attending after-school programs in Willimantic.
Students taking a nutritional sciences service learning class known as UConn CAFÉ (Cool Activities and Food Exploration) will collect the donations and give them to the Windham Housing Authority's Windham Heights and West Avenue Community Centers.
The class, which works to promote health education to school aged children in Willimantic
after school programs, is run by Professor Ann Ferris and
Meredith Poehlitz, a program
specialist in the nutritional
sciences department.
Donations may be placed at any time in the box at the nutritional sciences department in the R.E. Jones Building (next to the Dairy Bar); brought to the Student Union between noon and 1:30 p.m. during the week Nov. 27 through Dec. 1; to Towers residence complex from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 and Nov. 30; or to South Campus from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 28. Or call 860-486-0027 for pick up.
