School supplies needed for after-school programs

- November 28, 2006

Donations of new or gently used toys and school supplies are needed this holiday season to benefit children ages five through 12 attending after-school programs in Willimantic.

Students taking a nutritional sciences service learning class known as UConn CAFÉ (Cool Activities and Food Exploration) will collect the donations and give them to the Windham Housing Authority's Windham Heights and West Avenue Community Centers.

The class, which works to promote health education to school aged children in Willimantic after school programs, is run by Professor Ann Ferris and Meredith Poehlitz, a program specialist in the nutritional sciences department.
