The University Board of Trustees' Honors and Awards Committee seeks nominations for commencement speakers and honorary degrees for the Commencement ceremonies in December 2006 and May 2007.
The Board's criteria state, in part, that an honorary degree should be conferred "in recognition of extraordinary and lasting distinction (and) should represent the highest intellectual and moral values (of individuals) whose life and achievements serve as examples of the University's aspirations for its students."
Nominations may be submitted by any member of the faculty, staff, student body, alumni, or community. An individual may not nominate himself or herself. Nominations should be submitted by Oct. 20.
