Muslim food station debuts in Towers

- April 10, 2006

A halal, or Muslim, food station opened April 3 in the Towers Dining Facility.

The halal station will serve an entree, a vegetable, and a starch at every meal.

All meats will be zabihah (slaughtered according to Islamic law).

The food station will be open from Monday through Friday, with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The public is also invited to dine at Towers during normal hours of operation.

“This is a new and exciting enterprise for Dining Services, as we continue to broaden our services to the diverse community at UConn,” says Dennis Pierce, director of dining services.

For more information about the halal station, contact Tracey Roy at 860-486-0703.
