Hartford campus bursar dies

- March 27, 2006

Diane Duzak, bursar at the Greater Hartford Campus, died March 6. She was 49.

She had lived in North Granby until a recent move to Avon. Born in Hartford, Duzak graduated from South Catholic High School. She worked at the University for 19 years.

David Williams, director of the Greater Hartford Campus, says Duzak would “go the extra mile – not only in her own role, but in whatever capacity she performed.”

He says she “always made sure students were taken care of.”

Barbara Ricketts, a close friend and colleague says, “Diane was a sweet, caring person who put a tremendous amount of energy and concern into everything she did, both professionally and with her friendships.

"She’ll be missed immensely. There’s a hole here that can’t be filled.” Ricketts is registrar at the campus.

Nicole Williams, Duzak’s assistant, says, “Diane was truly a special person. She was not only my boss, but a true friend.”

Thelma Morris, a registrar’s office assistant at the Greater Hartford Campus had known Duzak for 10 years.

“She was the nicest person to work with – conscientious and pleasant. She would go the extra mile to help anyone out.”

Duzak is survived by a brother, James Duzak; a sister Donna Stewart; and other family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Doris (Harvey) Duzak.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Equistrides Therapeutic Riding Center Inc., 160 Granville Rd., North Granby, CT 06060 or an animal-related charity of the donor’s choice.
