The University of Connecticut will be the state’s host site to simulcast The White House Conference on Helping America’s Youth on Oct. 27.
The all-day national conference being held at Howard University in Washington, D.C. will be broadcast in
the Student Union Theatre from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The national conference will bring together policymakers, research experts, educators, coaches, parents, and representatives of foundations, faith-based, and volunteer organizations to share examples of what is already working to make a difference in the lives of young Americans; and to generate new ideas that can be used across the nation.
Those who attend the broadcast will be able to comment and ask questions to the panelists via e-mail servers.
The conference will also include remarks by President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Cabinet secretaries, and a list of distinguished speakers. Sessions include panels on Challenges Facing Our Youth; Research-Based Solutions to Our Challenges; Unveiling the Community Assessment Guide; Connecting with Family; Connecting with School; and Connecting with Community.
