Register your computer now to retain network access

- October 3, 2005

Faculty, staff, and students on all campuses are urged to register their computers with NetReg by Oct. 11.

NetReg is a system that ensures that computers connecting to the UConn network have current software fixes that make it harder for viruses and such to infect the computer and be passed to others on the network.

Failure to register will result in a loss of network access that will prevent people from using services such as e-mail, web browsing, WebCT, PeopleSoft Student Administration, Network File Sharing, instant messaging, and peer-to-peer applications.

“It is very important that people take immediate action to avoid disruption to services,” says Katherina Sorrentino, director of customer support and relations for University Information Technology Services in an e-mail to the University community.

Information about NetReg registration and support may be found at http://netreg.uconn.edu/netreg.html. Those who wish to go directly to NetReg pre-registration, go to http://netreg.uconn.edu, which provides three-step instructions to follow.

If assistance is needed, contact your department’s Information Technology supporter or the University Information Technology Services Help Center at 860-486-4357 or e-mail HELPCENTER@uconn.edu.
