Chase Family Donates $1.75 Million To Law School, Health Center
A prominent Connecticut family has made two gifts totaling $1.75 million to
the School of Law and the Health Center. Both gifts are eligible to be
submitted to the state matching endowment gift program, which could ultimately
bring the total to more than $2 million.
Final Budget Package Holds Mixed News For University
State legislators last month passed a budget package for the 2005-07 biennium
that includes $5.1 million less than the University’s current services request for Storrs-based programs, and about $1.1 million less than the Health Center’s request.
Data Possibly Compromised
The University Information Technology Services (UITS) discovered last month
that a University server containing personal data for 72,000 members of
the University community who were assigned UConn e-mail addresses, including people
at the Health Center, had been breached on at least one occasion.
Legislature Passes Bills Affecting UConn
The Connecticut General Assembly this year passed a handful of bills that will
directly affect UConn, including a resolution providing $100 million during
the next 10 years for researchers to study
stem cells.
