Calhoun To Join Hall Of Fame

Jim Calhoun, head coach of men’s basketball, was elected to the National Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Calhoun has won 703 games in his career, including 455 since he came to UConn in 1986. His UConn teams have won two NCAA national championships – in 1999 and 2004 – and played in the NCAA tournament 13 times. His teams have made 10 trips to the Sweet 16, and six times have been among the last eight teams playing.

Calhoun, along with Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim and three others, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during ceremonies Sept. 8-10 in Springfield, Mass. Ticket packages are currently on sale. Individual tickets, which go on sale beginning June 6, will cost $350 for the enshrinement gala; tickets for the induction celebration only are $30. Individual sales begin June 6.
