Transportation & Mail Services Toy Collection Beginning Nov. 29, Transportation Services and Mail Services will again be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ranging from newborns to 18-year-olds. Items will go to families of Connecticut Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine troops who are deployed to overseas locations, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Mail Services staff will collect toys from any Storrs campus office at the site of the outgoing mail. Transportation Services will have either a bus or a van parked on Hillside Road between the School of Business and the Student Union, at the entrance to Fairfield Way, the week of Dec. 6-10. Another bus or van will be parked at the Brown Building on the Depot Campus one day during the same week. “Last year’s toy drive was a huge success,” says Janet Freniere, transportation services administrator, “but we hope to do even better this year.” In addition to toys, gift cards for grocery and department stores, gas stations, and pharmacies, and pre-paid phone cards may also be donated. If you would like to send cash to help the families, mail it to: Connecticut National Guard Foundation Inc. |
