Konover Sponsors Teens At 4-H Conference

Two Hartford teenagers were able to join the 4-H Teen Connections Conference at the Storrs campus, thanks to sponsorship from Konover Construction Corp.

The company, well known for a number of construction projects on campus, decided to support teen leadership development as another way of building for the future.

"We are a company that believes in building and creating, and what better way to build for tomorrow than to be involved with the youth community in Hartford?" said Konover's Bob Dunn.

During the three-day conference July 11-13, participants took part in workshops on a variety of topics, from theater to career planning. They slept in residence halls and ate in the cafeteria. They also received guidance about how to further their own education at college, and were encouraged to consider UConn.

In addition to sponsoring two conference participants, funds from the Konover donation will be used to support Hartford-based 4-H clubs.

The 4-H Teen Connections Conference is held bi-annually for youth ages 14 to 19. The 4-H program is the Youth Development program of the University's Cooperative Extension System.
