Horseback Riding Lessons Offered This Summer

The University is offering horse riding lessons and a horse care workshop this summer. The workshop, which is open to people 13 years and older, will be held in July. Sessions will include demonstrations, lectures, and hands-on experience on topics including first aid for horses, braiding, nutrition, trimming hooves, and shoeing.

Lessons will be offered in both Western and English horseback riding. They are open to students, adults, and children ages 11 and older.

Western riding instruction is available for beginners and intermediates . One-hour lessons from noon to 1 p.m. are offered twice a week for three weeks, at $21 per hour. The first session runs from June 7 to June 25, and the second will run from June 28 to July 16.

English riding lessons are available for beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders. There will be four three-week sessions from which to choose. The one-hour lessons, which cost $21 each, can be taken twice a week or three times a week. Sessions run from May 17 to June 4; June 7 to June 25; June 28 to July 16; and July 19 to August 6.

Polo riding lessons for beginners and intermediate riders of high school age or older will be held from July 26 to August 13.

All lessons will be held in the Horsebarn Hill Arena.
