New Nursing Head Named At Health Center Ellen Leone has been named director of nursing and associate vice president for operations at the Health Center.
She succeeds Jeanne Lattanzio, who is retiring. Leone previously worked for more than a dozen years at the John Dempsey Hospital, serving as director of the Health Center's oncology service line and as nurse manager for several units including Medical 4 and the oncology units. She returns to the Health Center from her most recent position as chief operating officer at Martha's Vineyard Hospital. "We're delighted to have Ellen back at the Health Center in new capacities as director of nursing and associate vice president of operations," said Dr. Steven Strongwater, hospital director. "She brings us a wealth of operational experience from her most recent position, yet she retains familiarity with the Health Center and that special sense of community developed by someone who is committed to our hospital, our patients, and our health care." Leone said she is "very excited and a little bit nervous" about returning to the Health Center. "The several times I've been on campus during the interview process and afterwards felt like a 'coming home' to me," she said. Leone earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. and her master's in nursing at Western Connecticut State University. She has widespread experience in nursing: as a staff nurse at Mass General Hospital, a public health nurse in Winsted, and an intensive care unit nurse and clinical instructor in nursing education at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She began work at John Dempsey Hospital on April 16. |
