Nominations Sought For State
Community Service Award

The state Department of Higher Education is calling for nominations for the 2004 Connecticut Higher Education Community Service Awards.

The Department of Higher Education and the Connecticut Commission on National and Community Service recognize students, faculty, and staff, as well as student groups, who have made a significant contribution to their local communities through voluntary community service initiatives.

Nominations are due by March 1.

There are three award categories: Individual Student, Student Group, and Special Award. Descriptions of these awards is available at http://www.ctdhe.org/ccncs/pdfs/FactSheet.pdf.

The individual student and student group awards are by self-nomination.

Up to three individual students, three student groups, and one special award nominee will be selected to represent the Storrs campus in the statewide applicant pool. Those selected to represent the Storrs campus will be notified of their selection via phone or e-mail.

A statewide committee will select the 2004 award recipients from among the nominations submitted by all the private and public higher education institutions in Connecticut.

Statewide nominees will be recognized on April 22 in the Old Judiciary Room at the State Capitol in Hartford, and at the annual Student Life Awards Reception on April 13.

For more information or to submit a nomination, go to http://www.ctdhe.org/ccncs/CSA04/CSA04default.htm. If you have questions, contact Nikki DiPietro at ndipietro@ ctdhe.org.
