Scholarship Competition Announced

The Alumni Association has announced that it will award more than 40 scholarships, valued at $1,500 to $3,000, to deserving full-time UConn undergraduate students for the academic year 2003-2004.

The scholarships, many of which are named in memory of distinguished alumni of the University, will be awarded to current, full-time undergraduates for study at UConn during the 2003-2004 academic year, or UConn undergraduate seniors accepted for full-time first-year graduate study at UConn for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Applicants will be evaluated on four criteria:

  • Academic performance (a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher is required);
  • Financial need;
  • Two short essay questions;
  • Letter of recommendation.

In addition to the general scholarship awards, the UConn Alumni Association will award scholarships of $3,000 each to two students who are "UConn Legacies."

Eligibility requirements include:

  • The student applicant's parent, grandparent, or sibling must be a UConn alum and hold a current paid membership in the UConn Alumni Association.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher.
  • Applicants must be current, full-time UConn students for the 2003-2004 academic year.

The deadline for all scholarship applications is Jan. 31.
