The Department of Human Resources will hold its 13th Annual Employee Benefits Fair on Tuesday, May 21, and Wednesday, May 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Gampel Pavilion.

Representatives of more than 50 different organizations, including state benefit programs such as medical and dental insurance, life, disability, long-term care, and home and auto insurance, and staff from the human resources and payroll departments, will be available to answer questions.

Other organizations participating include local banks, financial planners, an oil co-op, a specialist in magnetic therapy, and a chiropractor.

Student Health Services and the School of Allied Health will perform cholesterol screening and blood pressure checks, and University Catering will sell sandwiches, salads, and cold drinks.

There will also be raffle prizes, including a color television, a palm pilot, DVD players, UConn apparel, 150 gallons of heating oil, American Express gift certificates, dining gift certificates.

If you need special accommodations, contact Stephanie Wilson at (860) 486-2370, two weeks before the fair.

The two-day fair is held each year in conjunction with the open enrollment period for state health insurance plans. The period April 30 through May 29 is the only opportunity employees have to change their insurance plan until next year.

The health insurance carriers available are Anthem Blue Cross, Health Net (formerly PHS) and Connecticare. The dental insurance carriers are Blue Cross and Cigna. Representatives from each of the medical and dental insurance companies will be available to answer questions from employees and retirees.

Changes in medical and dental insurance coverage for employees on the regular payroll will be effective July 1; changes made by graduate assistants will be effective October 1. Employees who wish to make changes in their medical and dental insurance coverage must complete and return the enrollment forms to the Department of Human Resources, Unit 5075, by Wednesday, May 30.
