Holiday Carol Sing 1952

[ABOVE] The campus looked set for a white Christmas in 1951, as snow fell on about 250 students, faculty and area residents gathered on Dec. 14 for the evening Carol Sing at the east entrance to the Wilbur Cross Library. Leading the caroling, his back to the camera, is Herbert France, professor and head of music.

[ABOVE] A closer look shows the accumulation of snow on France and the carolers. After the carol sing, some of the students may have gone to North Campus for the 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. "Winter Promenade" sponsored by the residence hall complex. The next day there was a "Holly Hop" and a home basketball game versus Boston College for the UConn men. [UConn lost, 53-57]
