Memorial
Service Set for Accident Victims
A memorial service for Nhat Pham, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Bethel, who died two weeks ago as a result of injuries she suffered after she was hit by a car, will take place on Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. at the Alumni Center (formerly known as Alumni House). The accident occurred as Pham attempted to cross the street just after midnight on Nov. 18, at the intersection of LeDoyt Road and North Eagleville Road. Although she was taken by Life Star to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, she died two days later. Pham earned her bachelor's degree in May 2001, and was continuing her studies at the graduate level. She was a graduate of Bethel High School and lived in Knollwood Apartments in Storrs. "The entire University community mourns this sudden loss and extends its condolences to Nhat's family and friends," said Vicky L. Triponey, vice chancellor for student affairs. The accident resulted in a charge of second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle while intoxicated being filed in Vernon Superior Court against a freshman student. Karen A. Grava |
