Students head to and from classes and dormitories in this 1949 view of Route 195, looking north from the intersection with Mansfield Road (Mirror Lake is to the left, out of the photograph). The house in the center is long gone, as is the Storrs Garage, the second building on the right. And there hasn't been on-street parking along the state highway for decades.

The closer view below shows a barber pole on the building, which also housed a store (known as "Beebe's Store" in the 1930s).
