Jorgensen Announces Discount for Faculty, Staff

UConn employees can now enjoy even greater access to the performing arts. The University's Jorgensen Auditorium has announced a new faculty/staff discount program that will enable all UConn faculty and staff to purchase up to two tickets to each Jorgensen event at discounted rates equivalent to those currently given to senior citizens.

The initiative reflects a renewed emphasis on Jorgensen's role as an educational tool. Director Rod Rock says he is proud of Jorgensen's efforts to increase student awareness of the arts, and sees the new faculty/staff discount program as an extension of those efforts.

"We've worked hard at getting students involved," says Rock. "Now we're widening our focus to include educators and staff as well. The arts have something to teach us all."

The new program for faculty and staff is only one of a number of new commitments meant to reach out to the UConn community. Jorgensen already offers discounted tickets for senior citizens and UConn students. Added to this is a new discount program geared to elementary, middle and high school students, which allows anyone 18 years or younger to purchase tickets to Masters and Chamber Series events for just $5.

Celebrating its 46th season, Jorgensen Auditorium offers more than 40 performances from September through May, hosting professional touring attractions for every taste, ranging from Broadway musicals to symphony orchestras, recitals and chamber concerts, dance, opera, pop, country, jazz, cabaret, multicultural, and children's events.

Tickets for fall events go on sale on Thursday, Sept. 6.
