Charitable Campaign Still Needs Donations

With a week remaining in this year's State Employees Charitable Campaign, giving by University employees falls well short of the $100,000 goal. Last week, the total stood at $58,244.

"We have a ways to go," says Gary Lewicki, chair of the University's campaign. "To all of you who have donated, thank you. To those who have not, do so today.

"I know many of you have indicated that the envelopes are in your in-basket, but you just haven't had the time to get to it. Please take a moment to fill out your card and send it in the envelope provided," he adds.

Those who have misplaced the packets and want to donate or have questions may call Cara Workman at (860) 486-1001.

"There are many fine charities needing our help, including one close to home, the Habitat for Humanities Husky House initiative," says Lewicki, "so please get involved in helping others by donating to the charity of your choice."

On Friday, Nov. 17, a closing Thank You event is scheduled: a '50s Lunch at the Student Union from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Attractions will include a juke box and raffle prizes, including the grand prize, an autographed basketball signed by the men's basketball team.
