Celebrate Fall on the 4-H Farm

Fall is here, and with it, breezy days, apple picking and leaves turning color. As a celebration of the season, a fall festival is planned for Sunday, Oct. 15, from noon to 4 p.m. at the 4-H Farm Resource Center in Bloomfield, Conn.

The 4-H farm is a private, non-profit organization that works in partnership with the state 4-H program, which is run by the University of Connecticut's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The festival, which promotes agricultural and environmental education to people of all ages, will take place on a beautiful 120-acre farm and features a variety of fun activities for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public.

The day's activities include: hay rides, barn tours, pumpkin painting, cider making, 4-H exhibits, demonstrations, a hay maze and live entertainment by "Cowboy Carl"of Newington.

There will be exhibits by: the UConn College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, members of Hartford county 4-H clubs, Guida Seibert Dairy, and Norman's Sugarhouse of Woodstock.

A variety of farm fresh products, including apples, cider, pumpkins and raspberries, will also be available for purchase. And there will be a bake sale to help raise money for the day's events. The festival is sponsored by the Connecticut 4-H Development Fund and the 4-H Farm.
