Faculty Sought as Mentors for Summer Program

UConn Mentor Connection, a three-week summer program for talented high school students, is seeking qualified mentors for the summer of 2001, particularly faculty members and advanced graduate students. The purpose of Mentor Connection is to allow rising high school juniors and seniors to participate in real life experiential projects in their field of interest. Each Mentor Connection participant spends five to eight hours a day working collaboratively with his or her mentor as a practicing professional in a self-selected field in the arts, sciences, humanities or social sciences. This year, the program will run from July 9-26. Mentors receive a small stipend for their participation. For more information about becoming a mentor, contact Heather Spottiswoode (860) 486-0283 or Betsy McCoach (860) 486-468.
