Awards & Honors
Edward Allenby, Institutional Advancement and Foundation, has received the Eleanor Collier Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District I for his contributions to the institution and to the profession.

William Parker, Art & Art History, emeritus, received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Florida on March 31. Parker, a pioneer in the interpretive analysis of photographic imagery from Jungian perspectives. His art, combining paint and photography, is represented in the collections of the J. Paul Getty Museum, International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts, Lose Angeles County Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art and Princeton Art Museum.

Michael Borrero, Social Work, led several group sessions on "Reducing Violence in America," at the Melanie Illene Rieger Memorial Conference Against Violence at Naugatuck Valley Community College on April 12-13.

Scott Brown, Hayley Mayall, John Toman and P.G. Schrader, all Educational Psychology, presented "The Importance of Subject-Matter Knowledge, Situated Learning and Communities of Practice When Instructing with Technology," at the annual meeting of the American Education Research Association, in New Orleans in April.At the same meeting, Frederick King, John Toman and Sadhana Puntambekar, all Educational Psychology, presented "Project-Based Learning: Partners with Technology;" and Del Siegle, Educational Psychology, and T. Foster, presented "Effects of Laptop Computers with Multimedia and Presentation Software on Student Achievement."

Suzanne Hetzel-Campbell, Nursing, presented "Blowin' in the Wind: Signs of Allergies and the Effects of the Maternal Diet on Allergic Response in the Breast-feeding Infant," and "I Believe I can Fly: Ways in Which Leaders Can Help Increase Women's Confidence in the Bodies and their Ability to Breast-feed and Mother their Babies," at the La Leche League of Connecticut 2000 Parenting Conference on April 15.

Bruce Stave, History and Center for Oral History, gave the keynote lecture, "From the Old Country," at the opening of the "Forgotten Gateway: The Abandoned Buildings of Ellis Island" exhibit at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton on April 17.

Karen Westberg, Educational Psychology, presented "What are they Doing Now? A Follow-up Study of Young Creative Producers," at the annual convention of the Montana Association of Gifted and Talented Education, on April 7.
