Maryanski Names Members
of New Research Task Force

Fred Maryanski, interim chancellor, has announced the establishment of a task force on research practice in light of a recent statewide survey of faculty at Connecticut's public higher education institutions about racial preferences in hiring and admissions in higher education.

The poll, administered by UConn's Center for Survey Research and Analysis, was funded by the Connecticut Association of Scholars.

The charge of the task force is to "review the circumstances of the recent survey and, where appropriate, recommend policies or guidelines that guarantee that future research projects are conducted in accordance with our finest traditions and the canon of academic freedom."

Task force members are:

Bruce Stave, History (chair)

The group's first meeting will take place on May 12.
