Husky, Health Care Websites
Listed Among State's Best The University of Connecticut did pretty well in a list of "The State's Top 50 Web Sites" in the April edition of Connecticut Magazine. Two of UConn's sites were listed: www.UConnHuskies.com and www.uconnhealth.org. The Connecticut Magazine reviewer, Debra Judge Silber, wrote of the athletics site: "... the greatest collection of scores, interviews, schedules and features in all of Huskydom. All of UConn's major sports are covered, from basketball to lacrosse in both men's and women's divisions. ..." About the Health Center site she wrote: "... babies are a big draw that is not lost on UConn's Health Center, where a virtual nursery showcases photos and stats of its latest additions. ...(The site also offers) information on a variety of health topics from frostbite to breast cancer. ..." "What makes a winner on the Web?" Silber asks. "The same things that makes a winner anywhere - beauty, charm, resourcefulness, the ability to hunker down and get the job done." The list divided web sites into a number of broad categories such as: History and Heritage, Education, Odd Jobs, Food and Dining, Regional Interests and Technology, among others. The Husky site was one of three sports sites mentioned; the Health Center site was one of two health sites. "At the end of the day, there is one great question on the Web: We've got it, now what do we do with it?" Silber wrote. "The sites that have found the answer to that question, or are hot on its trail, are on this list." Connecticut Magazine can be found on the Web at: Pat Keefe |
