Services Held For Student
Who Died in Road Accident
November 29, 1999

Funeral services were held November 19 for Christine Guyon, a 21-year-old honors student who died after being struck by a car near the intersection of Route 195 and South Eagleville Road on November 15. A memorial service in her memory is being planned.

Guyon, an individualized major from Newington, expected to graduate in May.

"The University of Connecticut mourns the tragic death of Christine Guyon. We are both individually and communally diminished by the loss of such a talented undergraduate, who pushed herself toward academic excellence and whose hallmarks were a keen sense of direction and focus, ambition in the most constructive sense, and enthusiasm," Fred Maryanski, interim chancellor, said Tuesday.

Guyon, who was studying to be a physician's assistant, won several awards for her work, including a $3,400 Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship.
