Atheneum benefits available to UConn
(March 30, 1999)

Faculty, staff and students at all UConn campuses will be able to visit the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford free of charge and enjoy other benefits, now that UConn has obtained institutional membership.

The oldest public art museum in the U.S., the Wadsworth has a world-renowned permanent collection and provides exhibits and educational programs and special events for adults, children and families, teachers and schools.

Members of the University community must show a current UConn identification card to enjoy privileges at the museum. Membership benefits include: free general admission, discounted rates for personal or family memberships or when hosting clients or friends at The Museum Cafe, no museum admission charge for guests, and discounted room rental rate when entertaining or holding a business meeting at the museum.

The museum has also suggested the potential for partnerships in educational programming.

"It's a great advancement in the cultural relationship between the University and Hartford," says Robert Gray, dean of fine arts. "The Wadsworth is one of the major institutions in the country, and we're proud to have this relationship."

For more information call the Wadsworth at (860) 278-2670, ext. 3112.
