Kay Bruttomesso appointed
acting dean of nursing
June 22, 1998

Kathleen Bruttomesso, associate dean and associate professor of nursing, has been appointed interim dean of the School of Nursing, replacing Dean Barbara Redman, who has accepted an appointment as dean of nursing at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.

Bruttomesso will serve while the University conducts a search for a permanent replacement. The appointment took effect May 15.

In a letter to faculty and staff of the school announcing the appointment, Chancellor Emmert said of Bruttomesso "she enjoys the respect and support of her colleagues ... I have great confidence that Kay will lead the School well during this transitional period."

Bruttomesso, who holds a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph College, a master's degree from Boston College, and a doctorate from Boston University, joined the faculty at UConn in 1977.
