Mark your calendars for the official opening ceremonies at the new Stamford campus.. On Friday, April 17, the official dedication will take place at 11:30 a.m. The day will begin with huge, festive balloons beckoning guests to the main entrance. The dedication marks the first time the front doors will open onto the Rich Concourse, named after University benefactors Frank D. Rich Jr., Robert N. Rich and The Rich Foundation. Frank D. Rich Jr. served UConn as a member of the Board of Trustees for 19 years. He has given numerous hours of service to the University and recently gave a substantial financial contribution to UConn-Stamford. The dedication will highlight the information and high technology aspects of the campus and the Connecticut Information Technology Institute (CITI), along with the many programs offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Division of Extended and Continuing Education. It will also feature special programs such as those offered through Judaic and Middle Eastern Studies, Women's Studies, the Institute for Children, Youth and Families, and others.. Following remarks from University officials and special guests, all who attend the dedication will have the opportunity to tour the new facility. Guided tours will be available from 1-7 p.m. In celebration of the move to the downtown campus and to showcase the beautiful glass facade, a black tie gala ball will take place on April 18.
