New art head has NY exhibit
March 23, 1998

Gina Werfel, head of the Department of Art and Art History, will present new paintings at the Prince Street Gallery in New York, through April 8. The exhibit will feature landscapes from a variety of locations, including Virginia, Maine and Texas, united by a common concern for light, movement and abstraction. Water is a frequent motif. Werfel has exhibited her work widely in the United States and has been awarded residencies at Yosemite National Park, the Djerassi Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Study Center.

Werfel became head of the art department on January 1.
