Appointments announced in Materials Science,
School of Fine Arts, and Research Foundation

Two faculty members are moving into new positions, and several senior administrators in the Research Foundation are sporting new titles.

In the School of Fine Arts, Dean Robert Gray has named Mary Ellen Junda, associate professor of music, as the new associate dean for academic programs. She will handle student affairs and academic affairs for the school. Junda has directed the UConn Women's Choir and Treblemakers Children's Choir and was the coordinator of music education. She earned her master's degree in arts administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Chong Sook P. Sung, a professor of chemistry, has been appointed director of the internationally recognized polymer science graduate program in The Institute of Materials Science. She has been an active member in the polymer science graduate program for more than 15 years.

And Vice Provost Bob Smith has announced several title changes, consistent with the formation of the new office of the vice provost for research and graduate education. James G. Henkel is now associate vice provost for research and graduate education and associate dean of the Graduate School, Ilze Krisst is assistant vice provost for contract and corporate relations, and Sandy Schulte is assistant vice provost for research administration. (No new responsibilities are involved.
