Services were held January 31 at St. Mark's Chapel in Storrs for Ellen Wiemann Greene, who died Tuesday, January 27. She was the wife of John Greene, an emeritus professor of history at UConn.

Mrs. Greene was born in New York City on July 13, 1917, daughter of the late Albert and Elsa Pfalz Wiemann, and grew up in New York. She met Professor Greene while in Iran in 1944, and they were married in Egypt in 1945. They joined the UConn community in the 1960s.

While in Storrs, Mrs. Greene organized and conducted tours for the William Benton Museum of Art, and also became active in local and national politics.
