Abundance of arts events completes fall season

The variety and scope of the arts is endless at the University. Here are events that will keep you busy until the end of the semester. And there'll be more in the spring!

Concerts

November 6 - The Music of Asia. Journey through the exotic sounds of Asian music. 8 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

November 12 - Jazz Lab Band. 8 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

November 15 - Voices of Freedom Gospel Choir. 6 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

November 15 - The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditoriuim.

Nov. 16 - People in Me. A musical voyage around the world. Interactive concert of children's music from around the globe. 1, 3, and 5 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

November 16 - University Festival Chorus. 3 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

November 18 - University Symphonic Band. 8 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

November 20 - The Bulgarian Voices: The Women's Choir "Angelite" and Huun-Huur-Tu, also known as the Throat Singers of Tuva. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

Nov. 23 - University Wind Ensemble. 3 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

December 2 - Sergio and Odair Assad, Brazilian-born duo-guitarists. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

December 4 - Storrs Collegium Musicum. Time and location to be announced.

December 5 - University Symphony Orchestra. 8 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

December 5 and 6 - The Boys of the Lough. A Celtic Christmas. Native highlanders deliver the music of Ireland, Scotland, Shetland and Northumberland. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

December 6 - ACDA Messiah Sing. 8 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

December 7 - Treblemakers Children's Choir. Men's Chorus. 3 p.m., von der Mehden Recital Hall.

 

Dance

Nov. 5 - Sydney Dance Company's Free Radicals. Sydney's premier contemporary dance company and three of Australia's leading percussionists. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

November 9 - Robin Lakes/Rough Dance: Dissonance. Kristallnacht Commemoration. 7 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

Dec. 13 - The Nutcracker. Performed by the Eglevsky Ballet. 2 and 7 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

 

Theater

November 7 and 8 - The Flying Karamazov Brothers. Theater, music, electronics, improvisational comedy and juggling. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

Through Nov. 9 - Connecticut Repertory Theatre presents Simpatico by Sam Shepard. Studio Theatre, Drama/Music Building.

November 14 - Judy Tenuta and Pauly Shore share their special blend of humor. 8 p.m., Jorgensen Auditorium.

November 20 through 22, December 2 through 7 - Connecticut Repertory Theatre presents She Loves Me. Harriet Jorgensen Theatre. For times, call (860) 486-4226.
