Alumna Prudence Sloane to host new WHUS cooking show

Culinary educator Prudence Sloane will host a new radio show Radio Cookbook on WHUS, Storrs 91.7 FM every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. The show will cover food news, events, facts, stories, how-to's, entertaining, and recipes, and will include call-in questions, discussions and interviews. Upcoming shows include matching beer with food, culinary careers, and an interview, cookbook signing and dessert tasting with Melanie Barnard, Carole Peck and Susan Purdy. Graham O'Connor, a junior majoring in English, is the engineer, assistant producer and occasional co-host.

Sloane, who graduated from UConn in 1980, is a blue ribbon graduate of Peter Kump's New York Cooking School. She owns and directs her own cooking school in Hampton, and is a food stylist and kitchen designer.
