Honor society lands Key Chapter award

The prestigious Key Chapter Award was presented to members of the UConn chapter of Golden Key Honor Society at the group's international convention in Atlanta, Ga., last month.

The UConn chapter was one of 29 selected for the award, from among 120 applicants. Criteria for the award include excellence in five major areas: communication, publicity, meeting management, chapter activities and leadership, as well as participation in regional and national programs.

UConn delegates to the convention included Michael Elterich, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Mathematics; Karen Erickson, School of Nursing; Dawn Gardner, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Political Science; Jonathan Pinto, School of Allied Health; Ryan Rembeau, School of Business Administration; Jennifer Santoro, School of Education; and Dean of Students Sharon Kipetz, who serves as advisor to the chapter.

Golden Key is an academic honors organization that provides academic recognition, leadership opportunities, career networking and scholarships. The society has 259 chapters in the United States, Puerto Rico, Australia and Canada. Membership is by invitation only to the top 15 percent of juniors and seniors in all fields of study.
