Collins to serve as student trustee

Brian Collins has been elected to a two-year term as a student representative to the Board of Trustees. He attended his first board meeting July 11.

Collins, who majored in health systems management, earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in May.

He is currently employed at ProHealth Physicians, MSO, Inc. in Farmington, where he worked part-time last year. He also was an intern there last summer.

An active student leader, Collins was president of the Undergraduate Student Government for two terms and a member for four years. He also was a member of the University Senate.

Collins has been a dean's list student. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity and a member of the Health Systems Management Club. He also received an Outstanding Leader award from the University.

As a trustee, Collins says he hopes to make students more aware of the responsibilities of the trustees and the duties of the administration. He also will encourage the University to keep tuition increases down and seek other sources of financial support.

His future plans include returning to UConn in 1998 to pursue a degree in law or an MBA.
