'La Mancha'
The Tony Award-winning musicals Man of La Mancha and Big River, and Steve Martin's comedy, Picasso at the Lapin Agile will take the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre stage for the Connecticut Repertory Theatre's 1997 Nutmeg Summer Series. The season opens with Man of La Mancha, directed by Gary English, CRTQs artistic director. The show, which runs June 6-21, is the story of novelist Cervantes, who, imprisoned during the Inquisition, entertains his fellow inmates by acting out his stories of the would-be knight errant, Don Quixote. Next comes Big River as Roger Miller sets Mark Twain's homespun American saga of Huckleberry Finn to music. The show runs June 27-July 12. The season concludes with Steve Martin's new play Picasso at the Lapin Agile, a comedy about Einstein and Picasso. The show runs July 18-26. For tickets and information, call 486-3969. SF |
