Emmert to attend
Hong Kong forum
Chancellor Mark Emmert will represent the University at an international forum for higher education leaders in Hong Kong July 2-3. The forum will mark the July 1 transfer of Hong Kong's sovereignty to China after decades of British rule. The forum, to be held at the City University of Hong Kong, will address issues that affect institutions of higher learning around the world: life-long education and the impact of information technology, the changing nature of universities, the university as a catalyst for economic development, and the future role of research in universities. Emmert will join presidents and other high-ranking officials from eight U.S. universities, including California-Berkeley and California-Los Angeles, McGill, Cambridge, Oxford, as well as institutions in Europe, Australia, mainland China, and elsewhere in Asia.
