UConn Advance

Khairallah endowment formed
May 9, 1997

An endowment has been established in the name of Edward Khairallah with funds that have been donated in his memory.

"This is a reflection of the esteem held for Ed by his colleagues, friends and students alike and is a tribute to his love of scholarship and life-long dedication to excellence in education and research," professors Richard Crain, Lawrence Hightower and Steven Cohen wrote in a letter to faculty. "In keeping with Ed's love for students, income generated by the endowment has been designated to provide an annual student scholarship/fellowship at the University for further academic pursuit in Ed's field of interest."

Khairallah, a professor of molecular and cell biology, died last year.

The fund is seeking additional contributions to be matched under UConn 2000, and the trio is asking for help. "This is especially important in view of the fact that many students are facing decreased financial support at the University," they said in the letter.

Contributions of any amount are welcome. To donate, make checks payable to: UConn Foundation, Edward Khairallah Memorial Fund, U-206.
