Leading statistician to speak May 5

One of the world's leading statistical scientists will speak at the 14th Pfizer Colloquium May 5.

Ingram Olkin will lecture on "A History of Meta-Analysis" at 3 p.m. in the Doris and Simon Konover Auditorium of the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center.

During a research career dating back to 1950, Olkin has made contributions spanning a wide range of statistical inquiry. He has made major contributions to multivariate statistical analysis and to the area of meta-analysis (the combining of information from similar experiments).

Olkin has published more than 150 papers and co-authored five books and nine other volumes. He is past president of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He has received many professional awards and has served on prestigious national and international committees and panels. He has been editor or associate editor for statistics magazines and journals and has been on the faculties of Michigan State University and the University of Minnesota.
