The 1997 UConn Awards for Promoting Multiculturalism and Diversity will be presented at noon May 1 in the Asian-American Cultural Center.

The awards will be presented to faculty and staff for their efforts in pursuit of multiculturalism and affirmative action. They were established in 1993 by former President Harry J. Hartley at the request of the President's Advisory Committee on Diversity and Equity.

Recipients receive a plaque and a stipend of $500 to be used to help sustain or expand multiculturalism and affirmative action at the University.
