Take your daughter to work April 24
UConn will hold its annual "Take Our Daughters to Work Day" April 24, with events planned for girls throughout the day.

The day starts at 8:15 a.m. at the H. Fred Simons African-American Cultural Center with a continental breakfast. Regina Barreca, associate professor of English, will give the welcoming address. The girls will then participate in the work experiences of their choice, including public safety, engineering, mechanical engineering, women's basketball, career services, animal science, health services and physics.

Research has shown that girls face a particularly challenging time in their development between the ages of 9-15. During this time, many girls experience a drop in self-esteem and in performance, especially in math and science.

For more information, call the UConn Women's Center at 486-4738.
