UConn Summer Sessions are now online. On March 14, the Office of Credit Programs and Continuing Studies introduced Internet registration for Summer Session courses. The project was initiated in November and came to fruition in March when a secure server could be dedicated to the registration account. "We didn't want there to be any chance that credit card numbers could be stolen in the process," said W. Matthew McLoughlin, assistant dean and director for the office. "Once we had that established, we were able to provide this registration option to students." The timing couldn't have been better. The registration form went online just before Spring Break. "We got ten percent of our registrations during the break from the Internet site," said June Miller, a clerk typist who monitors the registration. Plans are underway to enable graduate and undergraduate students to register on the Internet for virtually any course offered by credit programs. "This is a great way to expand services and increase convenience for students," McLoughlin said. "I'm very pleased with it so far and I think it has great potential." For those who are interested, the registration site is at http://vm.uconn.edu/~wwwece . Applicants still need a course catalogue to select their classes. The Internet registration information is included in all the Summer Session catalogs. DP |
