AAUP, UCPEA
contracts to take effect July 1
March 28, 1997 New four-year contracts for UConn professors and members of the professional employees union have made it through the Legislature and will become effective July 1. The contract for the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) provides general wage increases and merit pay worth 12 percent during its four years. The AAUP agreement also provides for a reopener on merit pay after two years. Members of the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA) will receive 14 percent in general wage increases, l ump sum payments and merit pay during the life of their contract. UCPEA's contract was agreed to after negotiations with a University management team. The faculty settlement was the result of binding arbitration. The two contracts became law when neither the state House of Representatives nor the Senate chose to act on the pacts within 30 days after their submission. |
